Reid, Boehner release joint statement on White House meeting

Washington (CNN) – In a joint statement Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker John Boehner addressed the results of the budget meeting held at the White House Thursday evening, saying, “We have narrowed the issues, however, we have not yet reached an agreement. We will continue to work through the night to attempt to resolve our remaining differences.”

CNN's Dana Bash contributed to this report.

COMMENTARY: (NVT) - Let's hope cooler heads prevail and that our two congressional leaders can put aside their idealogical differences and do what is best for the country.  Shutting down the federal government would not be good for anyone, but the fringe political extremists looking to further their own agendas.
