Commentary on the Violence in Afghanistan and the Dove World Outreach Center

In light of todays violence in Mazar -e Sharif Afghanistan caused by the ignorance of Pastor Terry Jones and the Dove World Outreach Center, http://www.doveworld.org/, I would like to offer my heart felt sympathies to our Muslim friends for the degradation and disrespectful treatment of their Holy Book by this group.

Pastors Terry Jones and Sylvia Jones continue to show their ignorance and intolerance toward Islam, by their burning of a Koran last week.  This church and their small group of like-minded narrow thinking individuals is after nothing more than to insight fear and hatred of a religion that they clearly don't understand.  Maybe if they read the Koran, and put the individual passages that they so love to quote into context, they might have a different opinion, but based on their actions I doubt that they would understand what they are reading.

In their thinking the Koran is evil and the people who follow its teachings are radical extremists.  Meanwhile this same group, at the urging of the U.S. government and the international community, was urged to cancel another event last year where Koran burnings were to take place.  Fortunately they succumbed to the pressure and canceled the event.

The burning of the Koran seems to be the Dove World Outreach Center's method of insulting millions of law abiding and peaceful people worldwide.

Because of their actions, at least 12 people were killed, including several members of the United Nations contingent stationed in Afghanistan during todays protest.  Of course when asked about this the Dove World Outreach Center declined any responsibility for the violence.  This is just the response you would expect from them.

Let it be known that this insignificant fringe group, by no means represents the greatest majority of American citizens who would like nothing more than to live in peace with our Muslim neighbors.

They are an embarrassment to everything that America stands for and as a Christian, I am ashamed of their behavior.
