Ignoring India's "Republic of Hunger"

In India's tribal regions, children are starving to death because of misguided governmental policies.  Here is a government that has the budget to develop nuclear weapons and purchase advanced military equipment from their allies, the U.S., being one, but is unable, or unwilling to see to the basic needs of their people.  Food, water, and shelter are the most basic of need.

I do not mean to imply that India's government is the only government not adequately seeing to the basic needs of their populations.  The U.S. government can be accused of this as well when it comes to healthcare, social security, and education just to name a few.  We are not seeing to the education of our children as we should to remain competitive in the 21st century, especially in the more impoverished areas of our country.  Our government seems to be hell-bent on seeing to the destruction of our social security system.  How is it that we, with good conscience, would not want to provide for our elderly to live out their lives with financial dignity.  But I digress...

Shouldn't more developed democracies be assisting young democracies in working towards fulfilling their obligation to their citizens?  I think they should!  These are the areas where America should be using its influence, for the betterment of society.
