Muslim Cleric Issues Anti-terrorism Fatwa

Muslim scholar, Muhammad Tahir ul-Qadri, head of the Minhaj ul-Quran religious and educational organization, has issued a 600 page fatwa in the U.K. stating that suicide bombers are "destined for hell".

In a report by Al-Jazeera, http://english.aljazeera.net/news/europe/2010/03/2010321321826236.htmlMuhammad Tahir ul-Qadri, says of suicide bombers,  "They can't claim that their suicide bombings are martyrdom operations and that they become the heroes of the Muslim Umma [the wider Muslim community], no, they become heroes of hellfire, and they are leading towards hellfire,".

It is refreshing, as a non-muslim, to see this man, a reputable scholar, speaking out about Islam and its message of peace.  Islam is not a religion of hate, but quite the contrary.  Any religion, if taken in single verses, Christianity included, can be viewed as evil, but studied in the intended context is likely to be a religion of peace.
